PERHAPS, but I'm a rookie, my plate is very full as it it with family life, and I'm so behind in understanding (and/or remembering) some very basic command-line tasks that going that extra step is just not necessary right now.  

Besides, the box is on our house's side of the router, in a closet, and nobody but I fiddle with the keyboard and mouse.

When the kids grow older?  Yup.  You'll have a point.  Just not in the here and now today that I live in.
