Sorry, but I couldn't really follow what the problem is. But the first mount point setup looks correct, though I assume the second would work provided you still retain the recordings folder under video*. I just don't understand what the second set of mount points does that the first doesn't.
Re the mplayer part, am I to understand that you have configured mplayer/smplayer as an external player in myth but it doesn't work?
