The only thing I can suggest is that MythTV is not changing it, but
something else is in response to MythTV's asking for a window that's
larger than the current display size or something. Go into Appearance
settings and set your GUI width and height to 0 and see if that helps.
But, again, MythTV doesn't change X display modes, except with the
setting above, so if you've disabled that, something else is to blame.
I don't know what would do it, though. It's likely something to do with
your video driver and/or the fact that you're using Xinerama (or one of
its kind) and video drivers don't like for video to be anywhere except
the first screen...
