Hello All.
New and somewhat confused MythTV user here. :-)
I purchased a GP-IR02BK remote based mainly on recommendations in a handful of product reviews on Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Azend-MediaGate-GP-IR02BK-Windows-Ultimate/dp/B000W5GK5C/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
One reviewer in particular said, and I quote, "Easy set up. Just select the mpc remote in Myth setup. Out of the box is great. It comes with all you need for a home media experience on Linux."
So far, the mpc remote setting in "Myth setup" has completely eluded me. In fact, I don't see anything that lets me select any particular remote at all.
Digging around in the wiki, man pages, and of course Google, I get contradictory information regarding remotes. I can't even tell whether or not I need (or should use) lirc. Indications are that Myth understands some remotes without lirc, while others require it.
My system:
Dedicated front and back ends on separate machines. Both running a fresh install of Debian Wheezy (Sid) and Debian MythTV packages. I am able to watch OTA HDTV and record programs, so the basic functionality is there. Using HD HomeRun capture card.
Front end details, which I assume is the most import for the remote:
New build.
AsRock H77M mobo.
Intel 3 GHz G860 cpu
8 Gig ram
64 Gig SSD
GeForce GT620 with hdmi using vdpau
430 Watt PSU
Could someone point me in the right direction, please. Thanks.
Nick
