Sounds drastic.
I haven't followed too closely but if you're now saying you have lots of  
queued meta data lookup jobs, could it simply be that your grabber has  
stopped working? There has been some recent discussion of this:

Your mythmetadatalookup.log may have some clues and, as Bill said,

mythbackend --setverbose system,jobqueue

will give more info in the backend log.
