[mythtv-users] Theme memory usage

Hi:

My main backend/frontend is an older Mac Mini with 2 GB of RAM.
After I upgraded to 0.25, I noticed that sometimes recordings would
fail, ala:

TFW(<filename>) Maximum buffer size exceeded. file will be
truncated, no further writing will be done ...

The system was using about 500 MB of swap and OS X is abysmally slow
when dealing with swap.

I switched from the Blue Abstract theme to MythCenter-wide about 3
days ago. I haven't had a failed recording since. Swap usage has
grown to over 100 MB since then. I ran this system for years on 0.21
with MythCenter-wide and virtually never had a failed recording or
laggy performance.

So I wondered what other people's experiences are:
-Is Blue Abstract a particularly memory-hungry theme? Is it possible
it is buggy and is leaking/wasting memory?
-Or are all the modern, graphical themes THAT memory hungry? Is 4
gigs necessary? More?
-Is there another modern theme that works better on a
memory-constrained system?
-I recall there was talk about tweaking the parameters for the
Threaded File Writer. Is that something I should look into?

Appreciate any input.

Craig
