No.  The backend doesn't really manage the mythtranscode process once it 
is spawned, it just waits for some kind of exit signal.  If you restart 
the backend, it will assume something went wrong, and restart any 
in-progress jobs.

Yes.  This is what you should do, and what I expected was going to 
happen when I told you to terminate the mythtranscode process.
