Thanks for your reply, Mike. I think it will remain a mystery because between 14101d06a (commited Dec 29) and my reported version I had updated mythtv more than once, without, however testing mythmusic. I have a script that automates the procedure, which backs up the db in folders representing commit, lib version, protocol version, uninstalls the old version and, for good measure, removes the "mythtv" folders under /usr/share, /usr/lib/ and /usr/include before installing the newer builds. It stops if it fails to build mythtv, so the newer version of the plugins doesn't get installed over an older mythtv base. Below is a list of the db backup folders for this period. drwxr-xr-x 2 yianni users 4,0K Jan 1 13:35 2012-01-01-v0.25pre-3926-gcd06560-dirty-1291-70---from-updatemythtv

I've been meaning to use a check list after each build to verify the various components are working ok but I think it will remain a theoretical exercise because the family takes over the tv and I can't check things like channel scanning (which has bugs, anyway) without complete stop of the backends. Time, time, time... Best regards, Yianni
