Caveat: I do not have such a card, so I have
no way to test these suggestions.

In another forum, someone has suggested
that adding
  Option "ColorSpace" "YCbCr444"
to the appropriate Screen section in
xorg.conf might work.

There are some comments in the wiki
   http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/VDPAU
regarding (some) nvidia-settings not surviving
a reboot (in the section on "GPU Power
Management") that provides a suggestion
to add code to /etc/gdm/Init/Default.
Note too that nvidia-settings cannot save
any configurations to xorg.conf if it is
not run as root (should this be one of
the settings it can save there).
