Well I tried adding another xorg config section, but no luck.
I had a closer look at the Xorg boot log and it appears that a section within 
the various Xorg config files uses udev with a "catchall" for keyboards, and 
that is what is grabbing the remote as a keyboard.

I have never had the need to look at udev, so I need to do a bit of research 
here to see how I can separate the remote from keyboards
