[mythtv-users] Slave Backend

Update:

The tuners are visible from the frontends running on the Master Backend or
the Slave Backend. They are listed as follows:

Tuner 1 is not recording

Tuner 2 is not recording

Tuner 3 is not recording

Tuner 4 is not recording

Tuner 5 is not recording

Tuner 6 is not recording

Tuner 14 is not recording

Tuner 15 is not recording

Tuner 16 is not recording

Tuner 17 is not recording

Tuner 18 is not recording

Tuner 19 is not recoding

There are six tuners altogether, 3 digital (2 X ATi HDTV, 1 X HD5500) in the
MBE, and 3 analog (PVR150's) in the SBE. The first six are listed in white
lettering on the normal background, but the last six are listed in yellow on
the same background. I am assuming something might be a little "hinky" with
the tuners listed as 14 - 19, so they might be phantoms from a previous
iteration of a backend. What is the best way to go here? Should I delete
all the tuners on both systems, and the sources, and re-create them all over
again?

No, the tuners are not listed on the status page for the master backend.
Bringing up a frontend on the slave system locally, they do not show up
there either. I have re-started the Master Backend several times, and made
sure that the Master was up and running before starting the slave. I do not
believe I am running with two separate DB's, since the slave was configured
that way from the beginning and was attempting connections to the Master DB
from the very beginning. I did, however, run "mythfilldatabase" from the
slave system, but even then I could see it was using the two sources I had
configured on the Master, one for analog channels and one for the digital
channels.

I have one system running Mythbuntu 11.04 with MythTV version 0.24.2 running
as a backend with three digital tuners in place. I am running another
identical system as a slave backend with MythTV version 0.24.2 running
Mythdora 12.23 with three analog tuners. When I attempt to bring up the
frontends, all I am getting are the digital tuners. The analog tuners do
not show up, even though they show up just fine in the backend setup for the
Mythdora system. I can also perform a cat /dev/video1 > test.mpg and get
video just fine.

What is causing the analog tuners to NOT show up? Is there a log I can look
at somewhere that will tell me? There are no errors, other than the absence
of the analog tuners.

Are the tuners listed in the status page for the master backend? Have you
restarted the master backend since adding the slave? Are you sure you're
not running two separate databases, one for each backend?
