0.25 actually read the ELD data of your device to find out if it can
really do 6 channels PCM..

If you post the ELD data I indicated earlier, I will be able to tell
you what your amplifier can do..

If it can't do more than stereo PCM, you will need to check in the
advanced settings the StereoPCM flag. That way even with software
volume enabled, you will be able to enjoy surround playback

There's nothing to fix there... the settings screen gets adjusted
according to the audio device you have set.
So say you are on ALSA:iec958 and you move to ALSA:front which is stereo only
The speaker config will change to stereo.  if you do move back to
iec958 instead, it will not go back to 5.1
