Providing a backtrace for when it happens, would help identify your
problem and fix it.
I personally haven't had a segfault when using liveTV for quite a while

As long as you are willing to compile it yourself, and expect that
there are times it will just stop working completely until a fix is
committed.
A few commits have been made in the past few weeks, that broke things
completely. They were fixed shortly after but if you are using
pre-made packages only build once a day, you may have to wait 24 hours
for things to work again

Can't see why it would be any different to using current Myth with
OpenGL set as painter.
