I'm not an expert, but I'll give it a try; my daughter's comcast system 
has the DC50X, so I'm a little familiar with that guide.  What part of 
the procedure did you stop on?  It sounds like the remote-control works; 
I assume you confirmed it with irw?

If every button-press of the remote results in something coming out of 
the transmitter, you might be right about the commands being mixed up; 
which would point to this:

/usr/share/lirc/transmitters/pace/pace.conf

or, this

include /usr/share/lirc/transmitters/pace/pace.conf

You mentioned irrecord.  What are your using it for?  I thought irrecord 
was used to capture commands, but don't you already have that?  By the 
way, I recall reading that the DC50X used a whole different protocol 
than traditional cable boxes, but the guide doesn't seem to be concerned 
about that.
