Sorry, I can't help with the lockup.

But I had bad transmissions once and eventually set up a post-processing job 
for my recordings that used Project-X to demultiplex (and repair) dodgey 
recordings.  My original problem was that if I had some transmission 
corruption, the audio sync would get worse and worse as the programme went 
on, but this was a few years ago. Maybe Mythtv can handle this better now.
