I actually changed the mem chips, which was quite a challenge, and it 
now has 32MB. I agree with you, 16MB was just too tight.

I also must say that asterisk came installed with the optware base 
package but I never put it to work, it's just sleeping there.

Anyway, what's working is: the normal dd-wrt router package (router, 
firewall, dns, wifi, web server, what else?) is openvpn, openssh, 
proftpd, cups, samba, xinetd. Looking at the load graph on the 
processor, it doesn't look loaded to me.
