The only reason I made such a ridiculous connection was because that was
the only change I made to the sound devices when it broke.

Yes my entire system is set to use my "HDA ATI SB (ALC1200 Analog)" card
which is CARD=0,DEV=0 in ALSA. While Myth doesn't see my analog
connection it does see my iec958 Digital connection but my speakers
don't support S/PDIF they are pure analog.

Sorry poor choice of wording I'm guessing I have to get ether pcm0c or
pcm0p out of the "closed" state that
/proc/asound/card/[pcm0c|pcm0p]/sub0/status is reporting before Myth
will see the sourund71 devices as an option again is this correct?
