I've had issues with mythcommflag and certain HD-PVR recordings.
mythbackend --version
Please attach all output as a file in bug reports.
MythTV Version   : v0.24-189-ge0a7720
MythTV Branch    : fixes/0.24
Network Protocol : 63
Library API      : 0.24.20101129-1
QT Version       : 4.7.1

In the current scenario, mythcommflag started last night:
2011-03-10 22:00:45.379 JobQueue: Commercial Detection Starting for "My Fair
Wedding With David Tutera":"Monopoly Bride" recorded from channel 3231 at
2011-03-10T22:00:00

I monitor my hard disks for iostat utilization and it showed my SSD disk 99%
IO utilization. /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log was constantly streaming
this error (roughly three AFD errors per second):
2011-03-11 09:30:52.002 AFD Error: Unknown decoding error
2011-03-11 09:30:52.070 [h264 @ 0x3617ef7ec0]get_buffer() failed (stride
changed)
2011-03-11 09:30:52.141 [h264 @ 0x3617ef7ec0]decode_slice_header error
2011-03-11 09:30:52.214 [h264 @ 0x3617ef7ec0]no frame!
2011-03-11 09:30:52.289 AFD Error: Unknown decoding error
2011-03-11 09:30:52.367 [h264 @ 0x3617ef7ec0]get_buffer() failed (stride
changed)
2011-03-11 09:30:52.447 [h264 @ 0x3617ef7ec0]decode_slice_header error
2011-03-11 09:30:52.529 [h264 @ 0x3617ef7ec0]no frame!
2011-03-11 09:30:52.613 AFD Error: Unknown decoding error
2011-03-11 09:30:52.700 [h264 @ 0x3617ef7ec0]get_buffer() failed (stride
changed)

My poor Kingston SSD boot drive does not like this and I don't understand
why mythcommflag can't get a clue that it should give up. I finally figured
out it was mythcommflag causing my disk IO issues and killed it this
morning:
2011-03-11 09:30:52.814 JobQueue Error: Commercial Detection Errored: "My
Fair Wedding With David Tutera":"Monopoly Bride" recorded from channel 3231
at 2011-03-10T22:00:00 (Failed with exit status 242)

Mythcommflag ran for almost 12 hours NOT processing a file but it never gave
up. Has anyone else experienced something similar? Has mythcommflag been
altered in development to handle these problems more cleanly or should I
open a Trac Bug?

Thanks.

/Brian/
