I am not sure the mechanics of doing this (which is another reason I
have not done so).  My guess is that you would just want to add
another drive to the system, move everything but your recordings to
that drive and get grub and your bios to use the new drive as the
startup drive.

I am sure if you google around, you can find better instructions or
someone here can advise.
