[mythtv-users] mythmusic and wav files

Hi, I have had problems playing wav files in mythmusic for a long time.
mp3's play fine - but wav files max out the cpu and have long
pasues/delays/missing pieces and system response (i.e., to lirc IR
events) is slow or missed altogether - a symptom of the high load.

This happens on a combined athon64 FE/BE and is worse on either of two
atom/ION PXE disless FE's.

Configuration is NFS for the music directory for the remote systems, but
the FE/BE has it as the local storage. Myth version is 0.23 fixes on
gentoo (~6 years old for the FE/BE).

Its actually mythfrontend that seems to generate the high load which
implies its the builtin player. Is there something I can do, or should
I be using mplayer or something else to play wav files (how?).
