If you told me that the responsibility for setting the the copy
control information on Fios channels had been delegated to a drunk
monkey, I wouldn't be able to argue with that.  I have a lot of
standard definition channels marked as copy-once that are unreachable
over firewire, while the HD version of the same channel is marked as
copy-freely and works.  I even have at least one local PBS station (in
HD) which is broadcast in clear QAM and tunes just fine on my HDHR,
but is marked as copy-once (or was it copy-never?  I forget) and won't
tune via firewire.

In what world that makes sense I can't say, but I get enough of the
channels I care about via firewire that I don't want to stir the
hornet's nest by investigating.
