Oh, just realized what may be happening.  There is a bug in MythTV 0.24+ 
where the Previously Recorded screen doesn't properly identify recording 
status for previously-recorded episodes (and, it's possible this may 
also be visible in MythWeb--I haven't looked to see which code it's 
using to get its info).  I started a fix for it last week, but haven't 
decided how best to actually fix it (and haven't had a chance to work on 
MythTV for about a week).

This (display-only) issue in Previously Recorded may be part of the 
problem (or adding to the confusion, at least).  The bug doesn't affect 
the scheduler, though.  (Note that it is a "display-only" issue, but it 
does affect the options you're given on the Previously Recorded screen, 
so it prevents you from accessing functionality you should have access 
to--like "Allow this episode to re-record," and such.)
