Complete guess, but it sounds like something about your capture card
drivers has changed such that the information MythTV is using for the
card is not correct. Try "Delete all capture cards" in mythtv-setup,
the re-create each capture card (in opposite order you want them used
for Live TV), then re-connect inputs (in order you want them used for
recordings). Note that "Delete all capture cards" won't affect channels.

applies due to the kernel upgrade that's part of the OS upgrade.

Sorry for the long delay, I didn't have time to work on this issue.
I've tried your suggestion, but it didn't work.
For now, I've used the following fix:

I added this line to /etc/init/mythtv-backend.conf, before starting
mythbackend:
/usr/bin/tzap -t 300 -x -c /home/username/.tzap/channels.conf CH1

This way, tzap is started before the backend, and exits automatically after
achieving signal lock.
It solved my problem. Dirty, but working...

I guess I'll do a clean install in 12.04, hoping this issue will not
reoccur.
