Interesting that the hd-pvr is the device I first started looking at before thinking about giving myth another try. I thought about myth when I started thinking that I sure could use pvr functions on more than one, or two, or three devices.

Not quite. More often than not, devices have outputs which can be used simultaneously. For example, on my m34A popcorn thing, I can watch SD on any TV then go to the projector and watch SD. Sometimes, it takes a reboot of the device to get it into the right mode but that's not a big deal. And that would be just fine in the case that I describe, having both. If the device doesn't have dual, then I'll usually output the highest version onto something like a switch/scaler that allows me to output down to SD.

Sounds like too much work :). We don't seem to mind the messed up picture when viewing HD material on SD output devices so that's not big problem.

Yes, I'm seeing plenty in the $40.00 to $80.00 range I think. It's just a matter of knowing what the options are so I can figure out if I need to replace the mobo next or just buy an older card of any type that simply works and is either pci or agp which is what I have for slots.
