Since there is no actual 'easy' way of finding and naming channels, 
these scripts sound like a great step forward. Thanks for offering to share.

There is a wiki page here:

which is now quite likely out of date. It would be great if you would 
either add a description of your process (and the scripts) to that page, 
or add a link to a new page which sets out your process. (Use a similar 
name, or add 'revised' and a date).
