Professional video editors (the people, not the software) seem to hate iMovie, which is understandable.

Avid used to run on Macs, they moved to Windows some years back, perhaps because of hardware cost.

Avid makes more money selling training than software products or hardware, which says something about the ease-of-use of 
their products.

In my experience, home users of video editing software seem to usually like whatever they were exposed to first better than 
anything they encounter later, not sure why.
