How would a hardware failure of some sort cause the mythbackend to keep 
allocating more and more memory until it hits the hard limit (2GB) and 
then start getting std::bad_alloc exceptions (which means out of 
memory)?  It sounds exactly like a memory leak, not bad memory sticks.
