If this is a kitchen frontend, have you given any thought to making it a 
touchscreen and omitting a mouse?  There are programs that you can use 
to turn mouse gestures into keypresses, or you could look into getting 
Myth's own mouse gesture support working.

Also, if you are only looking to provide Firefox, you might try 
MythBrowser instead.  In 0.23+, it's a fairly capable Webkit-based browser.
