Been there, done that, never got it working, even with a ton of help from this great list. 
I tried on two different mainboards to install mythbuntu and it would not install. The only distro that would install was/is mythdora, which I'm happy with since I'm more familiar with rhel/centos.

Looks like TV isn't what I'm after anyhow if it's just the desktop on TV. What I'm looking for is the UI, for live TV, playback, etc. 
That's the part of the puzzle I've not seen yet. I see it in pictures and tons of docs but still isn't clear how you get it onto TV.
