Almost certainly the apartment owner was talking to one of the intellectual
powerhouses that Comcast calls CSRs. Once he or she determined that the
customer wished to disconnect (the reason is immaterial) they were required by
their "training" to spout off the script that was designed to make the customer
change their mind.
A quick call to CNN or other media outlet will almost certainly resolve the
situation.
The situation does not surprise me, Comcast cares about nothing but profits.
Just wait until they own NBC.
