No.  Those patches were a preliminary set of minor cleanups I did to
make it easier to do the *real* changes.  They should result in
absolutely no changes in behavior (and if they did then that's a bug).

The real changes (well over 100 patches) are currently in test and
should be pushed in the next couple of weeks.
