The Comcast guy just literally left my home after trying to figure out why
about a dozen channels in my Digital Starter package wouldn't tune with
their larger, "free" cable box (not the DTA). After 2 hours of effort and
talking to the escalations, they determine that the several affected
channels have been promoted to the next package up - Digital Classic.

So NOW, Comcast is forcing channels up to more expensive packages after
they make you a captive customer of the digital services.

In a related event, when I requested a phone agent to send me one HD
receiver for self-install - she said that my current "Free" digital cable
box (not the DTAs) already counts for my one free converter. Therefore,
not only would I need to pay the HD service monthly fee (I expected that)
to also having to pay for the HD box rental because it's my second box and
I'm only entitled to one free box. My option was to return the current
"Free" cable box to take on the HD box as my freebie. I told her no thanks
after all.

I am now talking to the wife about getting that "ugly" dish on the roof
after all. Comcast can bite me.

OT: I am also considering whether I want to short Comcast stock, but
that's a dangerous game (are there enough people who won't put up with
this?)
