I do not think symlinking the Mythtv python bindings will work. Try 
installing the Myth python bindings to the python 2.6 directory. As it 
says in the MythNetvision wiki python 2.5 or greater is a requirement so 
your upgrade of python is one step in the right direction. From your 
email it would seem that you have the MNV scripts installed correctly so 
getting the python bindings installed with python 2.6 and any other wiki 
requirements should be your focus.

You can cross reference that the bindings install is the issue by trying 
to run jamu.py which also need the same bindings. e.g. ./jamu.py -v
If jamu.py complains about the bindings then you still have a python 
bindings issue.
