I've got 4 of the Samsung F2 1.5's fast and quiet, runs cool like all the Samsung Spinpoints.
However I've got a lot of Samsung F1 1TB drives (six) and they are failing fast (1 dead, 2 dying) with lots of remapped sectors (>190), wouldn't have bought the F2's if I'd known. Shame as all the Seagates I have are seriously noisy and the Hitachi's run really hot, I had a problem with a Hitachi 7100K that would forget it's partition table about once a month when driven by an Adaptec 1202 controller!!
I've been bitten by the WD power management bug on Macs, I believe Linux suffers the same as BSD.
