Hi all,

Short question: What is the maximum bitrate for ivtv cards?
Specifically the PVR-500.

Background:
I have a PVR-500 in a SBE. This BE has a drive dedicated for Myth
recordings. It is an Athlon x2 5000+ (2.6GHz) with 2GB RAM. I have the
bitrate on the PVR "Default" recording profile turned up. It is set at
6500 average and 8000 max. In my logs I get lots of these errors:
Jun 14 09:35:42 myth-fe-2 kernel: [162455.753092] ivtv0: All encoder
MPG stream buffers are full. Dropping data.
Jun 14 09:35:42 myth-fe-2 kernel: [162455.753097] ivtv0: Cause: the
application is not reading fast enough.

Yesterday I backed the average back to 5500 and max to 7000. I am no
longer seeing the errors in my system log, but I have not yet been
able to do quality tests.

Is there a limit imposed by the card of a max bitrate? Is some other
part of the system not able to handle the bitrate?

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks,
James
