I believe this is why there are often "official" IDs for +1 channels as they can be different.

True but I'm not subscribed there, maybe I should be?

I know from a friend at Discovery that this happens for them sometimes, we were discussing some ways to automate the apology graphic when they added dmax+2! I remember an ITV exec saying that it was an issue for them sometimes but with the recent change to their advertising revenues that may not be a problem any more. ITV also were considering what would happen if they had to put a +1 on a wide beam satellite when the original channel was narrow beam, some of their programmes have contracts that permit wide beam FTA playout some do not!

I'll see the Discovery guy in a few days, I'll find out which of their channels do this.

I'm glad this has come up, it explains what's going on, I'll keep an eye on the listings for differences and ask around about some other channels.

Personally I've disabled most of the +1 channels, I find they are usually lower quality than the main channels anyway and the double recordings don't happen if you don't have the +1's ;-)
