[mythtv-users] Subtitles from .srt files off the bottom of the screen

I have some video files with subtitles in associated .srt files.
I was really pleased to see that MythTv's internal player can
use them, but it puts them right at the very bottom of the screen,
straying into the area invisible because of overscan. Is there any
way to adjust the positioning of that flavour of subtitle? I
can't adjust the overscan for other reasons.
