[mythtv-users] MythTv crashes while watching or commercial flagging content recorded from Hauppauge HD PVR

My MythTv System:
AMD 64
MythTv .22 installed with MythBuntu 9.10

The Symptoms:
My entire system will crash while watching or commercial flagging
content recorded from my Hauppauge HD PVR. If the crash occurred
while watching a recording or live TV, the audio will stutter on the
last segment of sound like a skipping CD. The entire system becomes
unresponsive. The keyboard, remote control, and mouse do not respond.
The computer stops responding to a PING from another machine. All
keyboard shortcuts to restart X or the machine do not get a response.
The only way I've been able to restart the machine is by holding the
power button or pressing reset. If the crash occurred while flagging
commercials in a recording, I am forced to either stop the backend or
delete the recording quickly. Otherwise, the system will likely crash
again upon restarting commercial flagging. I have had instances of
watching or commercial flagging without crashes, but it does not seem
to be the normal response.

I have attempted to isolate if the crashes occur at certain segments
of the recordings, but surprisingly they do not appear to be. To be
clear, these issues do not occur while recording content from the HD
PVR, only while watching or commercial flagging.

The system is 100% stable if I do not watch or commercial flag
material recorded from the HD PVR. Other recording devices I'm
successfully using are:
pcHDTV
Hauppauge 350

What I've already tried:
1) Reinstalling mythbuntu 9.10 from scratch
2) Updating to the SVN version of mythtv
3) Various keyboard shortcuts to restart
4) Recompiling ffmpeg from the SVN Branch with --disable-ssse3
5) Updating the firmware on the HD PVR
6) Reading through the forums
7) Reading through my system logs for any standout issues

Thanks so much for taking the time to read through this message, it's
really appreciated. If anyone would like more detail, please let me
know. If you'd like something specific, please point me in the right
direction to get the info you need as I'm not a Linux expert.

Best,
Joe
