I want to set up auto-login and mythfrontent auto start. There seem to be a
lot of options and not much advice for how to choose between them.
The wiki page for setting up mythtv on fedora suggests editing
/etc/gdm/custom.conf to auto-login, then using a shell script to start the
frontend, but it's for KDE and I can't find the equivalent for
~/.kde/Autostart in Gnome. Is there one?
Another wiki page http://mythtv.org/wiki/Frontend_Auto_Login gives an option
1 with sub-options no window manager and window manager. Not completely
sure what a window manager does (different than Gnome?) or if I need/want
one. There is an option 2 that seems simpler until I get to all the stuff
on runlevels.
What I am trying to accomplish is to auto-login, start x, then start
mythfronend. I'd like to be able to escape out of mythfrontend and get the
Gnome interface if I want to. What is the best way to accomplish this?
TIA..Steve
