You MIGHT be able to run install the myth related software from 9.04
on your 9.10 system.
I've got a laptop running Ubuntu 9.10 on which I installed the
frontend software from 9.04
in order to talk to a 0.21 based backend.   I don't know if this will
work for a backend or not.
Of you could just go back to 9.04 completely as you suggest in a later note...
