[mythtv-users] OT: Distro packages

While doing a fresh install, I remembered lots of
package maintenance best practices:

List pwgen as a dependency, but attempt to generate
passwords for myth during pre-install, *before* pwgen
is installed.

Be sure to ask the user for a password several times
during the install, just to make sure that s/he
*really* wants that password.

When they give up, install a random password, because
you know they just weren't committed to their's.

Bury this password in multiple config files.
For safe keeping.

Whatever you do, *don't* add the mythtv user to SQL,
much less create the database. *Make* the user learn
SQL just to have a DVR. It's fun!


Sorry for airing the frustration but these problems
have been there since 0.18 days. Hope you got a chuckle.
