[mythtv-users] Corrupt recordings - possible hardware source.

Hi All,
I've been using myth on and off for a while, and about 6 months ago I
settled on ubuntu 9.04 when my
the linux kernel evolved to the point where my (then 8 month old) ASUS
M3N-H/HDMI was supported.
I can now play TV and Audio through HDMI with the integrated nVidia
ALC1200. My tuner (Dvico Dual Digital4)
is supported and my LCD (imon) is almost supported out of the box.
VDPAU works really well on the integrated
nvidia 8300 and even the SP/DIF works.
Everything was fine, until I upgraded to ubuntu 9.10 and mythth 0.22.
I have since had rolling problems with corrupt recordings. Audio
glitches, video blocking and occasionally
so bad the player cut out.
The physical TV still reported 98% signal, so I was pretty sure that
wasn't a problem..
Eventually my fiddling led me to disable my network card, an AR5416
based Linksys WMP300N. For the last few days
my recordings have been glitch free.
My system is so butchered its hard to compare to a base install....
2.6.32 kernel ... patched lirc ... linux-dvb trunk
compat-wireless-2.6 (various builds), tweaked dvico firmware, power
management tweaks, sys.vm tweaks etc etc etc..
The few people I knew in real life who run mythtv insisted I get a
powered splitter, a better antenna, etc ,etc.
I did eventually get a powered splitter, but of course it didn't help.
/proc/interrupts show no shared interrupts (but it's all virtual ACPI
interrupts), and removing the driver
(blacklist ath9k) was not sufficient, I had to physically remove the
card..
Can anyone shed light on why this might be so? Faulty motherboard
maybe? Signal from Wifi affecting
tuner? interrupt problems? dma problems? What steps would you normally
take to identify such a fault
when everyone believes its signal related??
