Correct, no built-in IR receiver.   I ended up buying this:

It was the cheapest receiver I could find and also came with what I thought
was a learning/programmable remote.  Turns out the remote only does MCE, but
it was still a good price for a USB IR receiver.  If you only want to do
MCE, the remote is fine.

I ended up getting a Universal R50 remote, btw.  $85 from newegg, and does
stuff you'd have to pay at least twice as much for in a Harmony.  I'm _very_
happy with this remote.  Very high WAF, especially with the color lcd button
labeling.  It's replaced all my other remotes.
