This semi myth has been postulated and debinked several times on this
list! DVI and HDMI are electrically equivalent and the cable doesn't
care what digital data you put down it.
So if the sending (computer) end can be persuaded to put digital data
that includes audio into the DVI end of the cable, an HDMI device (TV)
at the receiving end can accept it and process it.
Of course if the receiving end goes into a DVI port, its unlikely the
receiving equipment will know what to do with the audio part. But if
it goes into a HDMI port you're sweet.
