I use Seagate 1.5tb's in my Thecus N7700 box (not for myth but for mp3/s work/home files etc).

Been running raid 6 for over 2 years now. http://blog.collins.net.pr/2008/10/thecus-n7700.html

Haven't had any issues at all once I got all 7 drives onto the same firmware.

Pretty much ANY major manufacturer has good drives these days.
People might tell you they have had good or bad experiences with one thing or another but it all adds up to the same thing.

I think I would put them in this lineup based on my own experiences.

Toshiba, Seagate, and WD are the very best. I have many dozens of drives spinning 24/7, some have been spinning since 2000. All of them are one of the above manufacturers.

These manufacturers have been in business for many years and know how to build solid reliable drives. The simple answer is don't buy a manufacturer you or others have never heard of and you will be fine.

Drives are dirt cheap these days, just pick one that comes with a good enough warranty that if you get a lemon, you can exchange it.

Good luck.
