Do you know if the 5.3 requirement is primarily for use of the
get_called_class() function mentioned here:

I agree that running mythtv trunk is definitely cutting edge to say
the least, so I guess that sort of thing could be expected.  I
actually haven't even had time to upgrade to 0.23-fixes yet myself :D.
 I *really* have to get around to that.

Have any distros gone to php 5.3 in their stable versions yet?  I know
Gentoo hasn't.
