I get nothing from that:
[root at localhost ~]# dmesg |grep /dev/tty
[root at localhost ~]#

So maybe the modules are not loaded?  I thought they were because of this:
[mythtv at localhost ~]$ lsmod |grep 2303
pl2303                 12579  0
usbserial              27143  1 pl2303
pata_acpi               2303  0
