Thanks for this tidbit! I installed the software on an old Win XP machine I
have and hooked it
up with all the same cables. After installing the drivers for the
usb/serial adapter, everything
worked perfect! I can do all the functions you'd expect to do. Now I just
need to go back and
figure out why the Fedora system won't play nice. It had been working for
the last year without
any problems. Perhaps a recent kernel upgrade messed something up.

This one says D10 model 100. There aren't any company identifying marks
such as RCA or anything.
The only name other than directv on the unit is Macrovision.
