Pretty much, yep.

I find the contemporary in-tree ivtv kernel driver
(sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.31-r10) and portage's firmware ebuild
(media-tv/ivtv-firmware-20080701) are just fine, and using them keeps things
simple for me.

All I had to do was:

   - Configure "CONFIG_VIDEO_IVTV=m" in the kernel config and
   rebuild/install;
   - Put an "ivtv" line in "/etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6";
   - Emerge "media-tv/ivtv-firmware" and make sure the firmware files are
   where they'll be found.

Once my dmesg looked as it does below, MythTV was happy all around with the
card.
