Ok, I shut off the hdpvr for several hours, then disconnected it.  shut
down the server, plugged everything back in, and started the hdpvr. 
initialized, orange light off.  Then turned on the server, booted to
completion, no orange light, nodes /dev/video4 and /dev/hdpvr created.

Ran setup, then mythbackend and got this output:
